My name is Platina Berlitz, but I am most commonly called "Miss" or "Missy". I am the heiress to the Berlitz family in Sinnoh, and one of Professor Rowan's assistants.

Thanksgiving with Pearl was quite nice. I have never spent it away from home, and even though it was only the two of us in a foreign region, it was enjoyable. I suppose at this rate we will be spending Christmas and my upcoming birthday here in Kanto, as well. I cannot complain, really— the weather is so much warmer than in Sinnoh, though I am beginning to miss the cold.

On another note, Rapidash has thankfully recovered and should hopefully be ready to battle again within a few days’ time.

Ah, it isn’t all that different from here, then. Well, in a sense of what is available for education. When I told Crystal about how the education system works here, I mentioned to her the reason why us Unovian kids start our journeys at the age of 16: general education is mandatory for us. It’s rather fun to consider whether the grass is greener on the other side. Considering your family background, I’m sure that you were well-versed in a plethora of things, Miss.

As for when you come visit, it should be fine if you would like to sit in on a class to see what it is like. Large lecture classes don’t usually take attendance, and there’s nothing wrong with asking the professors of smaller classes if someone may sit in. Some prospective students may sit in on classes to see whether or not they would like to take it next semester. I believe that’s what Crystal has been doing since she’s been accepted; enrollment for classes have started so I have seen her around campus talking to counselors about everything. She officially starts in January with me—now that I think about it, I should ask her what she’ll be taking.

But really, it’s nice to be able to show friends who come to visit around. Unova is the newest region and may be unfamiliar, but it has a lot to offer. I think by now, Crys has gotten used to the big city quite spectacularly; I’ve never seen her more excited, haha.

Mandatory? How strange— but I think that is better, in a way. I have honestly never understood why anyone would let their children roam freely without instilling in them at least a basic education beyond things related to Pokémon training. It is much more practical to make general education on some level mandatory. And I was, though I must admit I would still have very much liked to experience normal education, as other children did. It seems… interesting, in its own way.

Ah… really?

I would like that very much! It would be a simply wonderful experience! And Crystal will be attending the same school? How lovely, that you two will be enrolled together!

So I have heard. From what I gather, it is much more advanced than places in Sinnoh such as Jubilife and Sunyshore, and I am incredibly excited to see it for myself. Castelia sounds absolutely marvelous, and I hear there is a Gym in another city that doubles as a café? It all sounds so… fascinating!

Ah, is that so? I haven’t heard about Sinnoh’s education system; I’ve been curious about how other regions work. Attending classes at Castelia has been great. It’s nothing like high school, as I expected. Some of the courses I’m taking, like my Ecology and Evolutions class, are in a big hall lecture. The accommodations for such rooms are rather good, especially considering how long the university has been around. The funds the school gets allows for updated electronic devices and every seat has a fairly good view of the front. As for other courses like my Calculus III and Argumentative Writing class, the enrollments are much smaller, and there is much more interaction between professor and student.

I have to say, most of the faculty have been rather helpful and willing to meet with students during office hours. A great deal of them are reputable researchers to say the least. They really know their subjects like the back of their hand.

If you’re ever in Unova, I’d be willing to show you around. There are actually other universities here; Ruby has been attending a private fashion institute this semester as well.

Sinnoh’s school system revolves primarily around trainer’s schools. There are preschools, elementary schools, even high schools and a few Universities, though from my understanding they are not as widely-attended as the trainer’s schools, as they are not mandatory. Most children opt to go on their journeys rather than to attend any kind of further education, haha. I would have very much liked to have gone to a normal school, I think— they seem quite fascinating, though Mother insists that I would not have learned anything if they had sent me to school.

Aah, that sounds wonderful! It seems like a simply marvelous place—! And the classes you’ve mentioned are interesting, as well… I wonder if the curriculum is any different than what I have been taught through homeschooling— at any rate, I am happy to hear that you have been enjoying yourself.

Ah, speaking of— I have been thinking of making a trip to Unova in the future. Crystal and I spoke a while ago and it was mentioned that we all might be able to see one another, aha.

cherenisnotaboysname replied to your postLong time no talk, miss. Just thought I’d say hello and ask how you’ve been since then—I hope that you’ve been well.

I’m glad to hear that. I’ve been doing fair myself; I went back to school this fall and it’s been quite hectic but enjoyable. I’m currently attending Castelia University.

That’s wonderful to hear. University? Ah, that sounds quite enjoyable—! I have never had any kind of schooling outside of my home, though I have read somewhat extensively on the education system in Sinnoh. What is it like, to attend a University? If you do not mind my asking, that is.

Oh, hello, Cheren! Aha, how kind of you— I have been very well, thank you. Much better than when we last spoke, thankfully. It is nice to speak with you again. I hope that you have also been well?

thatrivalwally:

Ahh, thanks! I’m planning on meeting up with one of my friends there. And I’m going with another friend and we’re gonna try and take on the Battle Subway! I think it’ll be awesome.

Aha, I have heard that the Battle Subway is very fun, if not quite challenging—I hope to make it there, as well, when I go. It sounds as though you will be having a marvelous time with your friends.

thatrivalwally:

Aww, that’s so sweet. Ralts was my first Pokemon, and he’s helped me win all of my badges. Skilled.. well… [Wait, Hikari said to be confident!!] Yeah, I’m a pretty good trainer! I’m planning on catching a Petilil soon when I go to Unova.

Petilil… Ah! I know of them—I have been wanting one, myself, actually, though I have not yet been to Unova. I am planning to in the future, but currently my friend and I are in Kanto, so it will have to wait. I hope you enjoy yourself when you go, and good luck with catching a Petilil!

thatrivalwally:

Oh wow! You must be an amazing trainer! Rapidash are so… majestic looking. If I added a Fire type to my team, it’d definitely be a Rapidash.

[She smiles behind her hand, laughing quietly.] Well, I suppose it was because I had a very good teacher. Ah, they are! Rapidash was my very first Pokémon; we met when we were both very young, and he still only a Ponyta. To have a few badges, not to mention a Pokémon like an Altaria, you must be quite a skilled trainer, as well.

thatrivalwally:

Yup, I am! I’ve got a Ralts and an Altaria. I’ve even got a few badges! What about you?

Oh—! That is a lovely team. They are both very good Pokémon, and Altaria are absolutely stunning. I am a trainer, as well; my main team consists of Empoleon, Rapidash, and Lopunny, among a few others. As for badges, I have collected all eight from Sinnoh!

Hm? Oh, I do not mind at all. Wally? I am Platina. It is nice to meet you.

It’s nice to meet you too! Your name is really pretty.

Oh, thank you! Most tend to call me ‘Missy’, but I will answer to either. Are you a trainer, Wally?
